Privacy policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data Mad Island Festival collects on madislandfestival.com, why, and what your rights are. We keep it short and simple: we only collect what we need to run the festival and keep you informed.
Who we are
This website is run by MAD EVENTS, the organiser of Mad Island Festival in Saint Martin, and the data controller for the personal data described below. Questions about your data? Email us at info@madislandfestival.com.
What we collect and why
Waitlist
When you join the waitlist, we collect your email address. We use it only to send you news about Mad Island Festival, such as the ticket release, line-up announcements and practical information. We do this because you asked us to (your consent). You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email or by emailing us.
We send these emails with Mailchimp (Intuit), which stores your email address on our behalf. Mailchimp may transfer this data outside the European Union under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
To protect the form against spam, we briefly process your IP address as an anonymous code, and we delete it after 10 minutes.
Tickets
Tickets are sold by our ticketing partner Easol. When you buy a ticket or join the waitlist through Easol, Easol processes your data on our behalf and under its own privacy policy. We receive the information we need to organise your festival visit, such as your name, email address and ticket type.
Contact
If you email or call us, for example about tables and VIP, we use your details only to answer your question and handle your booking.
Cookies and tracking
When you first visit, we ask what you allow. Until you click “Accept all”, we set no tracking cookies.
- Necessary: we remember your cookie choice in your browser so we do not ask again. This is always on.
- Statistics (only with your consent): Google Analytics from Google. It shows us how many people visit the site, where they come from and what they click, such as the waitlist button. Google may transfer this data outside the European Union under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- Marketing (only with your consent): the Meta Pixel from Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram). It helps us measure the results of our ads and show festival ads to people who visited the site. Meta may transfer this data outside the European Union under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
Videos and embedded content
Our aftermovies are hosted on our own website. Videos only load when you press play. We do not use embedded players from other platforms.
Who has access to your data
We never sell your data. We only share it with service providers who help us run the website and the festival, and only as far as needed:
- our website host and content delivery network, which store and deliver the website;
- Easol, for ticketing and the waitlist;
- Mailchimp, to send waitlist and festival emails;
- Google (Analytics) and Meta (Pixel), only if you accept cookies;
- Project BANG, the agency that builds and maintains the website.
How long we keep your data
- Waitlist: until you unsubscribe, and at most two years after the last edition of the festival you signed up for.
- Ticket data: as long as required by accounting and tax law.
- Emails and bookings: as long as needed to handle your question or booking.
Your rights
Saint Martin (French side) is part of the European Union, so the GDPR applies. You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict its use, to receive your data in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Email info@madislandfestival.com and we will reply within one month.
If you believe we are not handling your data correctly, you can file a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Security
The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to the waitlist is limited to the people who need it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with a new date.
